Milla Jovovich is back again to reprise her main role as Alice in the fifth installment of the much popular Resident Evil franchise. The film is reportedly be entitled Resident Evil: Retribution 3D (RE5), while Paul W.S. Anderson is on board to direct the film and Sienna Guillory may return to reprise her role as Jill Valentine. Resident Evil: Retribution 3D is currently in preproduction and is slated for release on September 14, 2012.
Although the synopsis is not yet available for “RE5”, but if you are a die-hard fan of the previous Residential Evil movies then you will probably know what to expect from “RE5”. The storyline is pretty common throughout the previous entries. The lethal T Virus is unexpectedly released by the Umbrella Corporation, and it's up to Alice to save the humankind from its effects: zombies.
I had my doubts about a video game adaptation to the big screen when they released the original film way back in 2002, but the director Paul Anderson on that one; he produced a wonderful action flick. Then they released RE2 in 2004 under the directorship of Alexander Witt… and we saw his inexperience all over the movie. In 2007 the franchise back to straight up action with third installment under the directorship of Russ Mulcahy. This film by no means got as scary as the original, but it was a lot better than the previous entry, as the director return to many of the basics that produced the original so well. Paul Anderson was returned in the Director's seat for RE4, and he continued with the straight-up action format. He preserved a lot of the theme in position that originated in the video game franchise that the film was adapted from.
