Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced the release of Robert Pattinson’s new movie Water for Elephants on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Copy on November 01, 2011.
"Water for Elephants" is a romantic movie based on the bestselling book of the same name by Sara Gruen, directed by Francis Lawrence and stars Robert Pattinson as Jacob Jankowski, Reese Witherspoon as Marlena Rosenbluth, Christoph Waltz as August Rosenbluth and Hal Holbrook as Older Jacob Jankowski.
The film tells the story of Jacob who is above to take his final examination to become a veterinarian, when he faces an unexpected family tragedy he has to give up his studies and join a Traveling Circus. His experience in animal medication proves useful as he is appointed to tend to the animals, especially, a hobble horse adored by the performer Marlena. She is wedded to August Rosenbluth who handle the show. He almost bankrupts the show when he spends too much money on an elephant (Rosie) that balks at his cruel training techniques. Finally, Jacob finds out the secret to making the animal perform, with Marlena as rider, turns out to be the circus’ big success. Jacob and Marlena attach through their common interest; the love of animals and spend a lot of time together. But Auguste has trouble dealing with the tension of the show and his rising jealousy veterinarian.
Francis Lawrence has successfully managed to remain true to the book and has given life to it, and the performances of the lead actors are excellent. Especially Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon are rock-hard but in some-way their roles don’t make as much sense as can be anticipated. We have seen better love relationships this year, for instance in Source Code and in The Adjustment Bureau. Christoph Waltz is so good in his role, in my opinion he is the true star of the movie.
