The fifth installment of Namco Bandai Games’ highly popular SoleCalibur franchise is heading to Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 on January 31, 2012.
When the Dreamcast hit US shores back in nineties we were all pleased with a platform for the best combat game ever: Soul Calibur. The 1st game in the franchise set the tone for its excellent installments. Simple Bandai recipe is to add more wepons into its excellent 3D fighter formulas. For as much as this game series stayed the same, the more enjoyable the weapons-based fighter has become. Accordingly to Namco Bandai Games Soul Calibur V is no exception, providing a plenty of fighters that bear familiar faces to followers of the franchise, as well as even offering earlier characters to make guest appearances within the SoulCalibur universe. In addition to that the game will include Ezio Auditore da Firenze of Assassin's Creed fame as a playable role in the game's roster. Like previous sequels in the series, the combat engine is amazingly deep yet even more amazingly accessible for those new to the franchise, and is rewarding as well. It should also be noted that this game looks superb and fully exhibits some vividly animated visuals that are vibrant and nicely detailed.
