Over the past decade, video games have developed into a very profitable business. Today's games require huge number of hours of work and take years to develop. The music included in these games, plus older games, is the same work of art that is often ignored. While movie scores have been esteemed for years, until lately video game scores were hugely a curiosity outside Japan. It is only in recent times that shows cover exclusively of video game soundtrack, for instance Play! A Video Game Symphony and Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy, have sold large number tickets all over the world.
Most popular video games these days are promoted on the strength of their soundtracks' mainly composers. For instance, Batman: Arkham City soundtrack promoted in its pre-release commercials that its score was composed by legendary composers Ron Fish and Nick Arundel. Regrettably, though, many game music composers remain less visible and less valued compared to those engaged with movie soundtracks.
L.A. Noire's music comprises an original soundtrack (OST) composed by well-known Andrew Hale and Simon Hale, with original 40s type classic music composed by The Real Tuesday Weld and sung by Claudia Brucken.
