Warner Bros. is bringing the gothic soap opera “Dark Shadows” back to the big screen. It was originally aired on the ABC TV Network and had been adapted for the big screen two times before. Tim Burton will be directing the adaptation of Dark Shadows 2012 based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s screenplay while Johnny Depp will play the lead role of Barnabas. Dark Shadows 2012 is scheduled for release on May 11, 2012.
The story centers on a family surrounded in misfortune throughout the decades due mainly to the love of a servant girl named Angelique Bouchard (played by Eva Green) for the smart Barnabas Collins in the 1790s. He was engaged to and truly in love with Josette DuPres (played by Bella Heathcote), but given the wrong impression about Angelique to consider he loved her. As a consequence, Barnabas now faces her rage as a witch when, after her decease, she curses him to be a vampire forever and then buries him alive. Two hundred years later, Barnabas is accidentally released from his coffin. There, he meets Victoria Winters (played by Bella Heathcote), the same rebirth of his love Josette and also a Dr. Hoffman (played by Helena Bonham Carter), who, after learning his secret, has discovered an extraordinary cell in his blood and is confident that she can treat him of his vampirism. But Angelique has other plans for them.
