Trey Songz is the new sound of R&B music industry. He has adequate soulfulness that you can sense the passion that he lays into his music, something that doesn't always happen in R&B any longer. And he has a great vocal range for his age and that is rather refined. Many music buffs have been sleeping on Songz from the beginning of his career. And frankly, it doesn’t really blow me, because at the beginning of his career, he was unknown and nobody knows where he was coming from. Therefore, his first album “I Gotta Make It” failed. "Gotta Go" and "Gotta Make It" (featuring Twista) songs from that album reached on the Billboard Hot 100 and brought in some sales, but nothing major that would begin his career. And on his sophomore album “Trey Day”, he picked up slightly, but besides the hit single "Can't Help But Wait", his second album didn’t do much. His third album “Ready” was released in 2009 and became his breakthrough album, which yielded several hits such as "Neighbors Know My Name", "I Invented Sex" and the club banger "Say Aah", and he has lastly established his name in the R&B music scene. Songz released his fourth studio album “Passion, Pain & Pleasure” in 2010, which was less of a commercial success, but yielded several major hits such as Can't Be Friends and Bottoms Up.
Trey Songz is currently working on his fifth studio album titled “Chapter 5”, a follow-up to his fourth album. The new album will be released through label Atlantic record. “Heart Attack” was released as the first single off the album. It is a smooth, purely R&B ballad that continues to showcase the strength of Trey Songz’s vocal talents.
Release date and the track list for “Chapter 5” have not yet been announced. However, Trey Songz announced that he will be touring with guess artist Big Sean across North America in support of his upcoming album.
