Ryan Gosling Drive Available on Home Video later this month

Drive is one of the best films of 2011 from Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn. The film was shown at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and won a single award for Best Director. Hossein Amini was penned the script based on the book of the same name by James Sallis. The film stars Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and Bryan Cranston.

The story follows an unnamed Hollywood stunt driver / mechanic (played by Ryan Gosling); apart from his regular job he also works for people who need getaway cars when they are involved in various unlawful activities. He doesn't help or assist them in any way when they are executing their assignments. He never works for the same person twice and offers each person on a deal few minutes and if they are a second too late, he's gone and they are on their own. He soon falls for a single mother Irene (played by Carey Mulligan), she lives down the hall in his building. Their romance is interrupted when her husband nicknamed Standard (played by Oscar Isaac) is returned from jail. It turns out that Standard owes some money to mobsters and he asks the Driver to help him with the deal. When things go wrong and Standard gets killed, driver vows to protect Irene and her son from mobsters Bernie Rose (played by Albert Brooks) and Nino (played by Ron Perlman) who threatening their lives.

The story is a little bit slow in the beginning and taking awhile to set into affect. Ryan Gosling plays his role flawlessly. Even though he doesn't speak a lot, it's usually his eyes that makes him very appealing. The rest of the cast is also great. The action scenes are well-done with great camera work, and the musical score is also very well done.

According to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Home Video for Drive will be available for purchase on January 31, 2012. DVD and Bluray discs will feature special items such as I Drive, Driver and Irene, Under The Hood, and many more.
