Falling Skies is a fiction television show broadcasted on TNT. The first season has 10 episodes, created by Robert Rodat and produced by Steven Spielberg. This is not Spielberg's first TV show and the knowledge he has under his belt have permissible him to avoid the less than benchmark standard.
The TV show starts shortly after an alien attack which wiped out most of the inhabitants while zapping electronics out of use. It follows Tom Mason (played by Noah Wyle), a Boston University history professor who is one of persons in charge of the 2nd Mass, a team of civilians and military officers battling against the aliens. Tom, is looking for his lost son, plus put his past military knowledge into practice to protect survivors. Tom and his other two sons Matt (played by Maxim Knight) and Hal (played by Drew Roy) are with him and needs to find their lost brother while they have to learn to survive no matter what they encounter on the way.
Blending fantasy with armed forces has been attempted in the past with less than commendable reviews. The visuals are outstanding for TV. There is a scene where one of the enemies is dying and the realism expressed on its face was authentic.
The soundtrack can be grouped in with the rest of television's shows. Some parts that employee the powerful such as Steven Spielberg are reluctant to make any critical modifications, as a result they ride the coat tails into insignificance. TNT, jointly with Spielberg, could be just the right mixture to put the fans in front of their television sets.
Warner Home Video will release the Falling Skies: The Complete First Season on Blu-ray and DVD on June 5, 2012. The releases will contain bonus materials such as Extended version of the Pilot, Pilot Commentary, Season 2 Sneak Peek, 2011 Comic Con panel and more.
