If you have seen the original film then you have an idea of what "Happy Feet 2" is about. It is a George Miller’s animated musical film, and it is something that the whole family can enjoy. Miller was the co-director of the original movie but he has gone solo on this film. Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Pink, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Sofia Vergara lent their voice talents to this film.
In the film, Mumble is now a father, and the penguins of the emperor penguin population are now fond of the dancing, together with the singing. Mumble’s son Erik, voiced by Ava Acres, somewhat runs along the same way as Mumble did in the original movie. Humiliated by an incident on his first effort to dance, he runs away with his two pals to find the meaning in life. His problem isn't dancing, but flying. He needs to fly and he's given false hope by a bird named Sven, who pass himself off as a penguin with the skill to fly. Erik is motivated by Sven and thinks he has lastly found his purpose in life. In the meantime, the melting of ice sheets and swift movement of glaciers has ruined the land to such a degree that the penguin population is trapped. Now it’s up to Mumble, Erik and his friends to save the emperor penguin population.
The music is amazing just like the original movie but the story doesn't hold my attentions to the extent that it's predecessor did. Though, little Erik is amazingly adorable and sappy. The choreography is remarkable for animated mammals and birds....and the frozen snow and soundtrack are outstanding too!
I am not sure if children would get the story, but they definitely would get all the breathtaking sceneries, ice sliding, deep sea fishing and wonderful 3D color effects that make the film at least visually attractive for everyone watch. Not quite like the original film, but something for the entire family.
