In her early twenties, singer and songwriter Norah Jones saw herself being called as one of the most talented singer to come along in 2002. Her debut album “Come Away with Me” sold millions of copies, and subsequently won several awards, including quite a few Grammy Awards. Her first record had all the elements to become a certain hit the moody sound, haunting piano playing and a remarkable voice to accompany it all. Indeed a star was born.
Her music is a blend of Soul, Jazz, Country, blues, and pop. At times it is hard to understand which direction she is taking all while it senses like her voice floats back and forth between lazy summer days and sad memory.
Looking back upon singers who had a great first record, for instance Alanis Morissette, one can say with confidence that the innovation and uniqueness of that record can never be reproduced. But Norah has managed to maintain the high quality standards. If you are interested in jazz music, or are even a casual listener to Pink Martini, chances are that you will love Norah’s works.
Norah is currently working on her fifth studio album “Little Broken Hearts” in collaboration with the producer Danger Mouse. Little Broken Hearts will hit store shelves on May 1, 2012 through Blue Note.
