Its been four years since Ashanti’s last record The Declaration. She’s well-known for her hit singles "What's Luv?", "Always on Time" and "Foolish". She made history by having those three songs in Billboard’s top 10 in the same week in 2002 and her self titled first record went on to multi platinum success. She dropped a record in 2003 and 2004. Her sophomore was a solid album with hot tracks. Her follow-up third record was too a solid album but it just did not touch the previous records. Due mostly to the fact that she has very little singing ability and a limit on the sort of music she can produce, her career has been on steady decline ever since her debut album. Still, even with lack of talent, "The Declaration," her latest offering, is a firm collection of haunting mid tempo radio ready R&B confections.
Now Ashanti is back with yet another record “Braveheart”, featuring guest artists such as Busta Rhymes, R. Kelly and Keyshia Cole. Her new album produced in collaboration with various artists like The Dream, Darkchild and Warryn Campbell. The album's lead single “The Woman You Love” featuring rapper Busta Rhymes was dropped in December and Ashanti shot a video for the single featuring actor/model Marcus Patrick. The song also managed to reach a peak of # 59 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Braveheart was originally set for April release, but has now been pushed back to June 19, 2012.
