Long awaited movie adaptation of John Kennedy Toole’s classic book “A Confederacy of Dunces” looks at last set to get off the ground, with shooting due to begin later this year. Comic actor, writer Zach Galifianakis is already on board to play the lead role of Ignatius, and Cedar Rapids will write the script. While the director of The Muppets James Bobin and producer Scott Rudin are currently in negotiating with Paramount Pictures to bring the classic book to the silver screen.
A Confederacy of Dunces tells the story of 30-year old Ignatius of New Orleans, a strange medievalist, staying home with his mother, whom he anguishes. Ignatius, who is an unquestionably ingenious comic creation, is an extremely fat pack of body functions, topped with a green hunting hat, he spends most of his time watching movies, eating, and locked in his filthy room.
