Serious musical group often face with the dilemma of making either the music that they really want or saleable products. The rival forces are at war on Muse's newest. “Madness” second single from their upcoming album The 2nd Law is, I think, a rousing and genre bending piece of work that both conserves the group's daring creative integrity and appeals to old and new fans. I like this song; it is bold and intense with some great guitar work and has all those Muse elements that everybody has cherished throughout their career. Although I can certainly tell the influences of Queen and U2 in their sound, I can esteem it for the reason that those are some of my favorite groups and they are not just reusing their sound, they are putting a new twist on it and creating it their own. I like the passion that comes out of it. It's great and thoughtful and meaningful.
I can’t get these memories out of my mind
And some kind of madness has started to evolve
I tried so hard to let you go
But some kind of madness is swallowing me whole, yeah
I have finally seen the light
And I have finally realized what you mean
And now I need to know is this real love
Or is it just madness keeping us afloat?
And when I look back at all the crazy fights we had
It’s like some kind of madness was taking control, yeah
And now I have finally seen the light
And I have finally realized what you need
And now I have finally seen the end
And I’m not expecting you to care, no
But I have finally seen the light
And I have finally realized
I need to love
I need to love
Come to me
Trust in a dream
Come on and rescue me
Yes I know I can be wrong
Maybe I’m too headstrong
Our love is…
Madness
