Whenever a movie series sees a change in the director or lead actor, you have to speculate how much the style of the movie is going to be changed. It could be outstanding or terrible depending on the situation and the greatness of the directors or the actor that you're talking about. It's a risky plan in the first place, but it's even riskier if the previous installments were popular. That's because all engaged might want to stay a bit true to what's already been created. That's the case for The Bourne Legacy as Tony Gilroy took over for Paul Greengrass, the director of The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and Jeremy Renner took over Matt Damon, the lead actor of the previous three films.
The Bourn Legacy attempts to tie in the previous installments and their plots into this one. Most fascinating about this film is that it builds on what we have seen in the past movies, but assures that Jason Bourne was just the start and that the conspiracy is much bigger than just the Treadstone project.
