Yo La Tengo (YLT) aren't one of the most recognized rock bands in the music industry, just one of the best and most consistent. Over two-decade of work, they have established authority over the alt rock genre. The trio come off instead as affable, somewhat shy, next door neighbor types who just turn out to write memorable hooks, often very loud music in a profusion of rock and pop styles -- songs that have a tendency to get more engaging the longer they last. Just because they're so open-hearted for an indie rock band doesn't mean YLT aren't creative as hell.
The trio is back with new material “Fade” after three years since their last album, Popular Songs. The new album is coming out on January 15, 2013, through Matador. The band recorded the 10 singles with producer John McEntire. The deluxe edition of the record will contain covers of Todd Rundgren's "I Saw The Light", while the digital deluxe edition will contain an 11-minute, still-untitled bonus track.
