Universal Pictures has teamed up with Vin Diesel to bring 70s’ TV show Kojak to the silver screen. Diesel will play the lead role of Kojak and will also serve as a producer on the adaptation. Neal Purvis who co-written the last five James Bond films is on-board to write the script for it.
KOJAK is a crime drama TV series that aired for five seasons on CBS from 1973 to 1978, in the same period as Starsky & Hutch, Columbo and Baretta to name a few. The drama also offered legitimacy and paved the way for NYPD Blue. The bald -headed, New York City policeman Kojak brought no-nonsense approach to murder cases while working with his boss Frank McNeil and colleagues Crocker, Kojak had a skill for twisting the rules to solve a case.
Diesel recently wrapped up shooting his sixth Fast And Furious film, which is set for release on May 24, 2013. Now that he is free, he'll probably move on to his next project “The Machine”.
