The Sessions is an indie film based on the real-life story of Mark O'Brien, a 38 year old poet, journalist and supporter for the disabled living in Berkeley. He was the first disabled person to graduate from college, getting a bachelor's degree in the early eighties and acceptance to a post graduate program. His touching story has been adapted before into a documentary film by Jessica Yu. The newest adaptation of O'Brien life story is written and directed by Ben Lewin. The film stars John Hawkes as Mark O'Brien, Helen Hunt as Cheryl Cohen-Greene, William H. Macy as Father Brendan and Moon Bloodgood as Vera.
