Since Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight book series hit the big screen, there have been many young adult movies entering an informal competition to replace what easily became one of the highly successful movie series of all time. One of the movies seriously vying to take on that place is "Beautiful Creatures." Like "Twilight Saga," the movie is based on the popular YA book of the same name by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. The adaptation was helmed by Richard LaGravenese based on his own script. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as Ethan Lawson Wate, Alice Englert as Lena Duchannes, Jeremy Irons as Macon Ravenwood, Viola Davis as Amma, Emmy Rossum as Ridley Duchannes and Thomas Mann as Wesley Jefferson "Link" Lincoln.
The story centers on a young boy named Ethan, who lives in the Southern town of Gatlin. He starts to have wired dreams of the past and finds that the new comer, Lena, shares his dreams. As they become friends and eventually fall in love, Ethan finds that there is more to Lena and her family. She comes from a long line of magic-users, called Casters, and when she turns sixteen her fate will be decided forever.
