Visual evolution of the Pokemon game franchise

Pokémon is the classic game franchise from Nintendo that challenges players to capture hundreds of different monsters that can be trained and evolved during the campaign.

Absolute success since its first release, the game featured several improvements, including its graphics. Check out the visual evolution of the franchise:

Pokémon Green / Red / Blue

Early versions of the game, Red Green and Blue were responsible for the popularity of burst series. The look was simple, thanks to the limitations of the Game Boy, but the charisma of monsters was already remarkable.


Pokémon Yellow

With the great success of animation inspired by the series, Nintendo decided to launch an adaptation of the first titles, highlighting the powerful Pikachu. More than that, the game won improvements in its visual, especially in the design of the monsters.


Pokémon Gold / Silver

Betting on the colors of the then brand new Game Boy Color, Gold and Silver also brought the whole new generation of creatures, including new initial Pokémon, legendary and a completely new map.


Pokémon Crystal Version

The traditional "turbo version" would become a constant in the series, and was present again with Crystal, which is a reissue Gold and Silver. The big news was Pokémon with animations, giving more life to the game battles.


Pokémon Ruby / Sapphire

First titles was the Game Boy Advance, the game brought the first great leap in visual aspect, with Pokémon, trainers and more detailed environments, and beautiful color combinations and new mechanics.


Pokémon FireRed / LeafGreen

Remake of the first titles in the series, FireRed and LeafGreen enjoyed great success between old fans of the series, thanks to the return of the classic monsters of the first generation. The new graphics helped revitalize the old game that has become even more attractive for new players.


Pokémon Emerald

Improved version of Ruby and Sapphire, Emerald brought a huge variety of monsters, but little has changed in the graphic aspect, since the visual remained virtually the same from previous versions.


Pokémon Diamond / Pearl

Launched in 2008, versions marked the debut of the main series on the Nintendo DS, and brought beautiful graphics, complete with new animations, effects and attacks still larger maps.


Pokémon HeartGold / SoulSiver

Another welcome remake, this time of the acclaimed Gold and Silver, originally released in 1999. Following the visual style of Diamond and Pearl, the game pleased the fan community with the return of memorable adventure, complete with some new mechanics, and graphics very pretty.


Pokémon Black / White

Coming to Nintendo DS and 2010 titles focused a little more on the plot, and also impressed by the news on the graphics. With more refined presentation, the game also used the laptop touch screen for easy interaction with the menus.


Pokémon Black 2 / White 2

First direct continuation of the main series, Black and White 2 have continued the story of the first title in the series, and also took a ride in the beautiful visual identity of the game, but while adding new animations and elements.


Pokemon X / Y

One of the most anticipated titles of recent times, X and Y come with the responsibility to start the activity of the series in the portable Nintendo 3DS, which had not yet received an exclusive version.


The graphics impressed by the quality extremely well designed Pokémon, and moves over there fluids. Another novelty was the introduction of 3D mode, supported by the top screen of the laptop.

Pokémon Omega Ruby / Sapphire Alpha

Newest game series, Pokémon Ruby and Alpha Omega Sapphire are remakes of classic titles from the Game Boy Advance, which marked the series by introducing several innovations.


The games take advantage of the power of the Nintendo 3DS to modernize the scenarios, characters and Pokémon title, without forgetting latest mechanical, such as mega developments and 3D mode.
