Planet Coaster: fix errors, not starting and bug issues

The video game developer Frontier Developments was able to get rid of many problems and errors of Planet Coaster during the alpha and beta phase. However, the full version still seems to cause some bugs with players. It may happen that the game simply does not start. In this guide, we have put together some solutions and support.

First of all, it is a good idea to update all your hardware drivers. You must pay attention to your graphics card. If the drivers are not up to date, this may cause the game to crash or not start.

If everything is up-to-date, you should look at the system requirements of Planet Coaster. Mostly it can be that you don’t have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you want to find out which Windows version or hardware is installed on your PC, start the Windows search and enter here dxdiag.exe. In the following tabs the diagnostic program shows you which components your PC has. If none of our tips does work, you can also use this window to save your information and send it to the frontier support team with your request.

Minimum:

OS: Windows 7 (SP1+)/8.1/10 64bit
Processor: Intel i5-2300/AMD FX-4300
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GTX 560 (2GB)/AMD Radeon 7850 (2GB)
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 8 GB available space

Recommended:

OS: Windows 7 (SP1+)/8.1/10 64bit
Processor: Intel i7-4770/AMD FX-8350
Memory: 12 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GTX 980 (4GB)/AMD R9 380 (4GB)
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 8 GB available space

If it is not the above problems, you can still try more. As simple as it sounds, you should simply restart the PC. In many forums, we were able to read that this simple trick really helped. Also reinstalling the game can work. Often, flawed patches or updates can freeze the game at short notice. Just wait for a new hotfix that fixes the problem or reinstall the game, and turn off the automatic updates.

Also consider that Planet Coaster only runs on Windows PCs. The simulation was not designed for Linux or Mac computers.

There is also a problem with the 10 series of Nvidia graphics cards. However, the developers are working on a solution and want to release a patch soon. Often it can also be due to a missing Windows update. Therefore, frontier recommends the following procedure:

- Click on the Windows-Updates-page and proceeds as described here.
- After you have installed everything, visit the following folder: \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Planet Coaster\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2015
- Open the installation file and start the game.

You Can Also Try This:

- If you have a Steam controller attached, close the game and plug it out. Start Planet Coaster and don’t close the controller.
- Disable your Anti-Virus or set Planet Coaster on the Whitelist.
- Sometimes the copy protection of a game is blocked by your Internet connection or the router, which in turn causes problems. To work around this problem, switch from LAN connection to wireless LAN or offline.
