In Need for Speed Payback, cars are divided into five unique classes: Drag, Drift, Race, Runner, and Off-Road. Each class has its own set of vehicles that can be unlocked through story progression or by meeting certain requirements. You can only tune cars with the corresponding setup for each class, so a drift setup will only work on a drift class car.
