Are you a Diablo 4 (D4) fan and want to take your gaming on the go? The Steam Deck, with its portable and powerful setup, is the perfect device for that. In this short guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to play Diablo 4 on your Steam Deck, so you can slay demons wherever you are.
Step 1: Install Lutris on Your Steam Deck
Before you can dive into the world of Diablo 4, you need to install the Battle.net client. The easiest way to do this on the Steam Deck is by using Lutris, a game management tool that helps you run Windows-based games on Linux systems.
Here’s how to install Lutris:
- Switch to Desktop Mode: On your Steam Deck, press the Steam button, go to Power, and select Switch to Desktop to enter desktop mode.
- Open Discover: Once in desktop mode, open the Discover app (the software store for Linux).
- Search for Lutris: In the Discover app, search for Lutris and click to install it.
After the installation is complete, you’re ready for the next step!
Step 2: Install Battle.net via Lutris
With Lutris installed, you’ll now add Battle.net to your Steam Deck and get it set up to play Diablo 4. Follow these steps:
- Launch Lutris: Open the Lutris application.
- Add a New Game: Click the plus (+) icon at the top left to add a new game.
- Install Battle.net: In the Lutris interface, search for Battle.net and click on it. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Battle.net client.
Once the installation is done, you can now log into your Battle.net account, but before you do that, let’s move on to the next step.
Step 3: Add Lutris as a Non-Steam Game
To make Battle.net and Diablo 4 easily accessible through the Steam Deck’s gaming interface, you’ll need to add Lutris as a non-Steam game in your Steam library.
Here’s how to do it:- Go Back to Desktop Mode: Launch the Steam desktop client (Steam’s desktop interface).
- Add Non-Steam Game: Click on the Games tab at the top, then select Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library.
- Select Lutris: From the list of available apps, find Lutris and check the box next to it, then click Add Selected Programs.
This will allow you to access Lutris directly from the Steam Deck’s gaming interface.
Step 4: Install Diablo 4
Now that you’ve added Lutris to your Steam library, let’s get Diablo 4 installed and ready to play.
- Launch Lutris via Steam: Go back to the regular Steam Deck UI and launch Lutris from your library.
- Log into Battle.net: Once Lutris opens, log into your Battle.net account.
- Install Diablo 4: Find Diablo 4 in your Battle.net library and start the installation process.
Depending on your internet connection, the download may take a little time, but once installed, you’re ready to jump into the world of Sanctuary.
Step 5: Play Diablo 4 on Your Steam Deck
Once Diablo 4 is installed, you can now launch it directly from Lutris, just like any other Steam game. From here, you can start playing, level up your characters, and enjoy all the action Diablo 4 has to offer, now on the go!
With these simple steps, you can now enjoy Diablo 4 on your Steam Deck anywhere you want. Whether you're commuting, relaxing at home, or traveling, you can experience the epic world of Diablo 4 from the palm of your hand. Happy demon hunting!
