The Orbital Laser fires a lethal beam that travels along a predetermined target and it does a massive damage.
It has a long lifespan and is so powerful that it can take out multiple charges in a single use. You might be wondering why the Orbital Laser is more affordable and unlocks earlier than the Orbital Rail Cannon given how powerful it is. This is because it only has three charges, and in case you didn't know, those charges are distributed among your entire squad. So, make good use of it and communicate to ensure that the three charges are not wasted.
When you reach high difficulties and beyond you can easily encounter up to six Bile Titans in a single mission and at that point three charges can start to seem very restricted. So even though this is insanely powerful, easy to avoid and lasts very long. The Eagle Rocket Pods or the Rail Cannon are two alternatives that might be worth trying.
Having said that, it does incredibly well on the shorter missions and on easier difficulties and that makes it one of my most recommended stratagems.
As I mentioned earlier, be advised that the charges are shared, so you might want to consider having only one team member bring the orbital laser to avoid wasting a slot.
