Your unique Valor skills will become available to you after just a few hours of gameplay. When you are in the stage phase of battles and have filled up your Valor gauge by either beating foes, obtaining items, or taking objectives, you will be able to unleash unique abilities known as Valor skills.
The first and most obvious purpose of valor skill is to use them to your benefit in battle, such as to dealing damage, gain additional defenses, or increase your mobility. However, from the beginning of my campaign I noticed that using supportive Valor skills like Travis's Plunder or Alain's Royal Order was effective.
When you use Royal Order, a two-point Valor skill, you can increase the experience gained by one army on your map by 100% for the next battle. This is a great way to level up your units quickly or catch up with a newly created army especially, if you use it during a boss stage. You can also use it to unlock new skills and attributes and increase your overall strength even faster.
Although it can be very tempting to use all of your offensive Valor skills as soon as you acquire them, I've noticed that you don't really need them especially at the beginning, as you can often come up with much better strategies without them. It would be better to use those skills for supportive skills that will benefit you in the long run and have enduring effects.
Similar manner Travis's Valor skill, Plunder, is very helpful because it can be used to steal gold from enemy units for just one Valor point. Early in the game, you can get 800–1,000 gold from the enemy, which you can use to purchase better gear from towns. This will help you become stronger and unstoppable in battle by giving you access to healing and other supportive items or simply better gear overall.
